Hemp Clothing Brands: Choosing Shirts and Blends

Choose the shirt style first, then decide which fiber blends you will accept. prAna’s Cozy Up offers a women’s crewneck with a specified hemp blend; Rawganique has a short-sleeve collared hemp-shirt listing. Those are different shopping directions, not interchangeable recommendations—and neither the word hemp nor a collared-shirt name establishes a pure-hemp garment. prAna; Rawganique.

prAna: a women’s crewneck if polyester is acceptable

The Cozy Up Short Sleeve Crew, style 2066421, lists 55% hemp, 35% recycled polyester and 10% TENCEL Lyocell. It belongs to prAna’s women’s T-shirt range, and the maker calls its fit standard. That makes the material decision straightforward:

For fit, use the size-S length as a reference rather than a complete sizing answer. If you plan to tuck the tee into trousers, compare it with a shirt that stays tucked on you, using the same measurement method. For untucked wear, consider where you want the hem to meet your usual waistband. You still need chest and shoulder information for the size you intend to buy.

There is also a color-dependent neckline difference: solid colors have ribbed collars, while striped versions use the same fabric as the shirt for the collar. Rawganique: a collared-shirt shopping direction

Rawganique’s short-sleeve hemp-shirt page identifies a collared style. If a collar is essential, that is a more relevant direction than choosing a crewneck solely for its hemp percentage.

For a pure-hemp purchase, however, the shirt’s name is not enough. Request the fabric percentages for the exact garment before ordering. Ask for chest and shoulder measurements in your intended size, along with its washing and drying instructions. Do not select it on the assumption that it has a particular weave, stretchy feel, loose fit or machine-drying allowance.

Pure-hemp fabric and a plastic-free garment are different goals

A fabric-content statement is not necessarily an inventory of every garment component. The FTC’s textile guidance allows exclusions for sewing thread and certain trims; non-fibrous components such as buttons do not have to appear in the fiber breakdown. Use two separate buying questions:

• Do you want all-hemp fabric? A blend such as Cozy Up does not meet that requirement, regardless of its fit or styling.
• Do you want no plastic anywhere in the garment? Ask about thread, labels, trims and fastenings as well as the main fabric. A fiber percentage alone cannot settle that question.

Keep the distinction in mind after purchase, too. If you use a dryer, keep lint from hemp/polyester blends out of home compost. Make the laundry routine part of the choice

If tumble drying is essential in your household, ask whether the exact shirt permits it before buying. Do not borrow washing temperatures or drying settings from another brand’s hemp shirt. When fit is close, recording the garment’s length and chest width before its first permitted wash can give you a useful reference. Wait until you understand its fit after laundering before committing to alterations.
