GreenChoice

Our editorial policy

GreenChoice publishes research-based guides to household purchases and sustainable living. John Shoufler operates the site and is responsible for its publishing standards. Our articles use AI assistance for research, drafting and review.

Evidence behind a recommendation

Product specifications come from identifiable manufacturer documents. Certification claims should be checked against the certification body or an identifiable product record. Government agencies, scientific research and other independent sources provide context for health, safety, energy and environmental claims. Sources are linked in the article so you can inspect their scope and limitations.

A manufacturer's claim is evidence of what the manufacturer says; it is not an independent performance test. A certification for one material or factory does not automatically apply to every product a brand sells. We distinguish these cases and avoid broad labels such as “non-toxic” or “eco-friendly” without explaining the specific evidence.

Research and firsthand testing

Unless an article includes a documented testing method, sample, dates and results, it is a research-based guide. We do not present AI-generated experiences, customer anecdotes or published specifications as our own testing. We do not assign product star ratings without a documented rating method.

Useful comparisons

A recommendation should explain who it suits, when it is a poor fit, what a buyer must check, and the tradeoffs against keeping or repairing an existing item. Price, availability, formulas and warranties change. Confirm the current product and terms with the retailer before buying.

Review and corrections

New and substantially revised guides go through a separate evidence review before publication. AI review can miss errors. If you find an unsupported claim, broken source or product mismatch, email editor@greenchoiceaffiliates.com with the article URL and supporting information.

The publication date records when an article was first published. An updated date records a substantive change to its guidance or evidence; rebuilding the website does not refresh those dates.
