How we disclose links

Article pages display a disclosure before recommendations and product links. Product cards link to retailers; the retailer handles checkout, payment, shipping and returns. We also mark affiliate links for search engines using the sponsored link attribute.

The FTC's endorsement guidance explains why commercial connections should be disclosed clearly to readers.

Evidence and recommendations

A commission is not evidence that a product is effective, safe or environmentally preferable. Our guides should explain the published evidence, the limits of claims, and circumstances where a product is a poor fit. We do not present research as firsthand testing. Read our editorial policy for the standards used in publication and review.
