Does financial payback measure environmental benefit?
No. This calculator compares purchase and operating costs only. Environmental impacts depend on manufacture, transport, washing, useful life and disposal; this tool does not calculate an environmental break-even.
Should I include washing cost?
Include additional water, energy and detergent for every item you wash, including bottles and jars. Also include replacement filters, coffee, blades or other consumables that differ between the options.
What counts as uses per week?
Count disposable purchases actually replaced. If one reusable use replaces several disposable items, enter the number of disposable items rather than the number of washing cycles.
